Where has the summer gone?

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

I can't believe it is July 1st already. It feels like graduation was just yesterday and I was sitting in school last week. In reality, it has been over a month since graduation and even longer since I sat in a high school classroom.

The summer flying by has always been one of my worst nightmares. At the beginning of summer it feels like I have all the time in the world but before I know it the summer is half over and I have done close to nothing.

My anxiety has kept me from making many friends in the past.  I don't spend a lot of time out doing things because I don't have anyone to do them with. I spend most of my time at home creating stuff on my computer, reading, and dreaming of traveling the world.

When I was younger I spent the whole summer playing outside and going on family trips. I greatly miss those days. We traveled to Canada, Oregon, California, Florida, Las Vegas, etc. We pretty much always had a trip planned and I loved it. We don't go on trips much these days. I have been on two this year purely because of graduation and college tours.

As I get older I realize there are so many things I want to do and I'm going to have to make them happen. I created a bucket list for this summer that I'm pretty sure I didn't save but I know most of the things on it. It included things such as: go to a farmers market, read 50 books, and learn to cook. I think the list had about 20 things on it. Considering I have only read about 4 or 5 books so far this summer I am really going to have to step it up. Can I do it? We'll see.
